The Average Cost of Liposuction Today

By Victoria Rowde

One must be aware of the average cost of liposuction today, before he or she decides to undergo one. Of course, there are some liposuction clinics and facilities that claim to offer the most reasonable prices that average people can afford. But it is quite difficult to have an average figure for the cost of liposuction since there are a lot of factors taken into consideration. The national averages ranges from $2000 to $3000, but actual prices have been reported to go up to $8000. The more expensive clinics can charge as much as $20,000 per liposuction procedure.

Many factors affect the price of a liposuction procedure. These are the following:

1. The Kind of Doctor That Will Perform the Procedure on You

Your doctor's accomplishment as well as his credentials has a huge bearing on your liposuction cost. The doctor may be a graduate of a premier school, be the top of his class, is an affiliate of many surgical associations, and has many liposuction trainings and experience under his belt. With these credentials the doctor may be able to ask for a higher fee than most doctors around.

2. Location of the Liposuction Clinic

Cost of liposuction will also depend on the location of your clinic. Some areas charge a lot more since the market can afford more and they have a lot of demand. Places such as Beverly Hills are examples of this.

3. The Part of the Body to Undergo Liposuction

Cost for each body part to undergo liposuction also varies. The average cost of liposuction for the cheeks, neck and back are the cheapest, they range from $2000 to $4500. The cost for doing the upper and lower abdomen as well as the breasts are the most expensive, which hover around the $8000 range.

4. The Procedure Used in Liposuction

Today, there are many ways of going about the procedure. Back in the day, there was only a single way to perform liposuction. Now, new technology has enabled different new procedures in performing liposuction. These include tumescent liposuction, ultrasonic liposuction as well as laser liposuction, each with their own price range.

5. The Amount of Fat to be Removed

6. Laboratory tests and Use of the hospital and Special Facilities

7. Gender

Men have more fibrous tissues, wider body areas and tougher fat. Since the liposuction procedure is harder, it will also entail more costs.

8. The Use of Anesthesia

This can influence the average cost of liposuction. While it is recommended to have local anesthesia since it is the safest, general anesthesia is still cheaper. It still depends on the doctor's recommendation, whether they may choose to go for general anesthesia or local anesthesia combined with sedatives.

The bottom line is, one should not scrimp on the liposuction procedure. One should spend as much as one could, since this could very well change your life. Be careful of cheaper prices than the average cost of liposuction and other bargains because these can compromise your safety as well as the success of your liposuction. - 16004
