Start by doing your research when buying a shoe. Fashions change every six months, so be sure that you are buying a shoe that is either currently in fashion, or is a wardrobe staple that will always be chic, like a black pump.

You should also always have at least one pair of good quality boots in your closet, as well as a pair of flat sandals.
