A Natural Way To Treat The Skin Condition Acne

By Dave Bern

Acne is not purely a skin condition which inflicts the young, but can also trouble many adults as well. Yes there are plenty of treatments which one can use for dealing with this condition but although effective many of them actually contain harmful chemicals which could cause further damage.

This is one of the reasons why so many people are now looking for more natural ways of treating their acne problem. Many of the natural acne treatments available today do not contain harsh or dangerous chemicals in their makeup. So the chances of your skin becoming dry or irritated by them are greatly reduced.

Even though quite a few people do not believe that natural ways of treating acne are as effective as over the counter or prescription medications this is simply not the case. In fact the vast majority of natural acne treatments one can use today for this particular skin condition are indeed very effective.

One such natural treatment which is proving to be effective in treating acne is tea tree oil. The oil which is golden in color comes from a variety of different plants and the only way it can be made is through steam distillation of the plants leaves. For many centuries in Australia this oil has been used by indigenous groups for both medicinal and cosmetic purposes.

The oil once distilled contains good anti-bacterial properties which allow it to help kill off the bacteria that results in acne forming under ones skin. However, this particular treatment because of its acidic qualities should never be applied to the skin in undiluted form. What one should do is mix one part of tea tree oil to 20 parts of water and then apply it directly to the area of skin that is affected by the acne.

In fact because of its effectiveness many acne products being produced today which contain benzoyl peroxide in them are being remade using tea tree oil instead. This is because the results it provides the user with are very similar to those of the chemical benzoyl peroxide and are certainly not as harmful.

Certainly if you are someone who has sensitive skin then using a product which contains tea tree oil would be far more suitable as it is much gentler on the skin. Also you will soon discover that using such products your skin is far less likely to dry out. However, if you want to moisture your skin as you treat it then use a mixture of tea tree oil with Aloe Vera.

Another one of the best acne treatments one should consider trying if you suffer from this skin condition is the spice turmeric. Again a completely natural product this one can be applied directly to the affected skin or can be taken orally as well. Although this does not contain anti-bacterial properties it does contain good antiseptic qualities instead.

When taken orally it is best to mix a small amount of the turmeric into a cup of warm milk and drink prior to going to bed at night. As for the topical application mix some turmeric into a smooth creamy paste with either coconut oil or sesame oil. Then apply directly to the affected skin around 20 minutes prior to going to bed to allow it to dry and so you do not get any on your pillow. Then leave it on overnight and you will be astounded at the difference in the sizes of your acne spots the following morning. - 16004
