Organic Skin Care Myths

There are many myths about skin care that circle around. It can be frustrating to know where to turn for the help you need. You dont want to waste time on things that wont work but you also dont want to discount the thing that may be your cure. Here are just a few of the myths that can cause problems.

Myth #1: Wash your face Morning, Noon and Night.

This is harmful myth. The truth to this is that if you wash your face that many times during the day you are actually making it harder for your skin to be as healthy as it can. Washing your skin is good, once a day. More then and you are taking out the oils that are actually helpful for your skin. So instead of doing all three choose one time, morning, noon OR night, and wash your skin daily at that time

Myth #2: Sunscreen is to be used whenever you are going to be exposed to the sun for long periods of time

This myth is actually a half truth. If you are going to be exposed to the sun for a long period of time (i.e boating, or hiking or biking, or playing in a park) then sunscreen with a high SPF is an absolute must. However that is not the only time sunscreen is a good idea.

Sunscreen actually is better on a daily basis. Find a low SPF sunscreen and apply it daily, even during winter months. This helps give your skin the daily protection it needs. The sun is daily attacking your skin every time that it can, sunscreen can be your daily protection from that ensuring beautiful skin in later years.

Myth #3: Dont let zits grow at all, stop them as soon as you can.

Again this is another half truth. Yes you want to stop zits as soon as they start to come but that doesn't mean they wont have to run their course first. When you see a zit dont pick it apart. This only hurts because it causes two things: scars and more zits. Instead find a zit and blemish cream and apply it on a regular basis. No amount of picking will help heal it faster.
