Going Shopping For Handy Advanced Air Purifiers

By Chris Channing

Society has had access to consumer-grade air purifiers for quite some time. The industry as a whole has been evolving over the past few years, as they have been able more efficiently reduce airborne particles with less power. This is great news for allergen sufferers, or anyone with a healthy outlook in mind.

An advanced air purifier will have several filters, depending on how it is designed. The first filter is the pre-filter, which filters out anything that would clog the finer filters- meaning they have an extended lifetime. This may be something such as skin particles, dust, or allergens such as pollen. Although a pre-filter may have to be replaced more often, it is less expensive to replace and keeps the quality of air filtration at a maximum.

Typically, the next filter will be a HEPA or SuperHEPA filter. HEPA stands for high efficiency particulate air. HEPA filters are able to clean over 99% of particles from the surrounding air, making them a key choice in air filtration. The SuperHEPA filter expands upon this efficiency, and further improves the filter's ability to remove harmful pollutants.

Organic Fiber Sterilization, or OFS, is another type of filter that usually precedes more delicate filters. The OFS filter is sometimes considered optional in filter design, but it is quite useful in removing bacteria, mold, or spores from the air. This alone may account for preventing disease or illness that one would otherwise catch from airborne contaminants. The filter is usually placed behind a pre-filter in order to save it from wear and tear.

In addition in finding standalone filters that keep harmful particles out of the air, vacuum manufacturers have started including such filtration techniques into normal vacuuming tasks. By collecting airflow through the filter of the vacuum, the same effect is achieved on a lesser scale. It may not be enough to rival the ability a standalone filter can attest to, but vacuums with such filters are highly recommended for cleaning out rooms where filters don't reside.

Before making a purchase of an advanced air purifier, keep a few specifications in mind. It will take a good amount of electricity to power them- consider the wattage rating in regards to your electricity bill. Also find out the estimated costs in replacing filters over the course of a year. Finally, check with the specifications to see how much of a space the air purifier can accurately purify without problems.

Final Thoughts

Obtaining an advanced air purifier is easy- they are easily found in convenience stores, health stores, and even sports stores. If you think that an advanced air purifier seems like it would be worthy of your investment, shop around to get a good deal on an efficient model. - 16004
