Airsoft Projectiles

By Alexander Malroy

The adrenaline rush of playing the airsoft game is one of the main reasons why it is so popular today. Its ability to simulate military operations and reenacting historical events added up to it's sought after popularity. The strategy aspect it features makes it more dynamic and interesting. There are growing numbers of countries who recognized airsoft as a sport and a hobby, while some others still held their reservation in recognizing its legitimacy.

Paintball and Airsoft: Knowing the Difference Some people tend to think that paintball and airsoft are two same things. But there are actually several differences when compared. The most common difference between them can be the use of the actual weapons.

Paintball's range is much shorter than airsoft guns. Players of paintball guns have their time running around chasing each other in order to shoot accurately and precisely. While in airsoft gun games, players can shoot even at an ample distance mainly due to the extended pressure airsoft has. Airsoft uses gas pressure adjustable to the player's preference how much pressure he wants to put in his gun.

Airsoft BBs are little plastic pellets that are not very distinct when used on the opponent. This is the reason why there are more rules in airsoft games. Paintballs on the other hand color the opponents clothes when hit and are thus easily distinguishable.

In paintball the players have to run around to get a good shot. However in airsoft games the guns can further extend the pressure as gas pressure is used to fire the airsoft BBs. A more complex technology is involved in making the airsoft guns and these resemble the real guns closely. However the projectiles of the guns measure only 6 to 8 mm in diameter. The airsoft guns function quite differently and require batteries to help them to carry functioning. These guns can either be automatic or semi-automatic.

The Rules of Airsoft Since airsoft fires off little pellets, projectiles are vital. This is also important because airsoft games are usually held at replicas of actual battlegrounds, meaning there is a big field where both camps can stake their hide outs complete with ammunition packs and those shields they can run to for cover. Thus, projectiles must be flexible enough especially when both camps finally catch up against each other.

But because of the size of the pellets, and since not all airsoft BBs are stained like paintballs the honor system is followed. This simply means that players who have been fired successfully with the pellets must surrender themselves out of the game. Sometimes referees and marshals are also present to make sure that those who must be out are really out of the game already.

In between adrenaline rush and a fire of bullets, some people may not already feel the airsoft BBs. Some people opt to use tainted airsoft BBs so they can easily identify those that have been tagged already. However, some prefer not to use them and just the regular BBs because the taints may cause damage to the guns, other ammunitions, and even the clothes once they get close during the game. Airsoft is a fun game to play and can bring hours of enjoyment to people everywhere. - 16004
