Hoodia Gordonii, Is it Really the Weight Loss Miracle They Say?

By Ricardo d Argence

Hoodia Gordonii is a spiky plant found in deserts that is native to parts of southern Africa and has been employed in herbal folk treatments for decades. People native to the area have long used this herb as a treatment for indigestion, to fight infection, and even as an appetite suppressant while on long hunting trips in the desert.

The latter use for Hoodia Gordonii has garnered plenty of interest in the West and as a result has become a component of numerous natural weight reduction plans.

Since early research regarding the advantages of Hoodia Gordoni used for weight loss, conducted in 1977, only a handful of companies have ben permitted to manufacture it due to regulations on cultivating the plant for production on a large scale.

It has been used for this purpose in indegenous history and similat effects have been in animal testing while there have not been any published testing that reveals that Hoodia Gordonii suppresses appetite in humans.

Early research into the way the plant works and how to market it for weight loss were halted due to the expense and complexity of synthesizing the component in Hoodia Gordonii that triggers the appetite suppression response in the body.

Because Hoodia Gordoni is an endangered plant, it risks becoming extinct if use and cultivation of the plant is not strictly monitored.

Many people have said that Hoodia Gordonii can help in suppressing your appetite, but that the dosage required to do so effectively tends to be much larger than that which most websites have listed.

The herb also works best in a carbohydrate-controlled diet and a stable blood sugar level, as the plant does not react in the same way with a diet of simple sugars and refined carbohydrates. As with any herbal remedy, you need to take just the right amount, three times daily for an extended period of time to see results.

You should not take excessive doses of Hoodia Gordonii in an attempt to lose additional weight. Herbal remedies need time in order to work, and this specific one works along with the types of foods you eat. Consequently, even someone thinking of using Hoodia Gordonii for weight reduction should use it as a component of a general diet and exercise plan.

Be warned that taking huge amounts of Hoodia Gordonii, or any herb or medicine, will make you sick and have no lasting beneficial effects. Instead, ease your body into the change by introducing a new routine. Hoodia Gordonii may work for you, but it cannot be taken in place of diet and exercise or you will not be able to maintain your overall health and you will not achieve the results you want. - 16004
