Finding a Cellulite Treatment That Works

By Franca Bellucia

Cellulite is common in women with up to 95 percent suffering the condition some time during their life. It is thought that the condition affects women more than men because of the higher level of fat that female's have. Millions of women each year search for the ultimate cellulite treatment. Some are very satisfied with their choice but others are left wanting.

The media often makes many women feel that are abnormal if they have cellulite. But this if far from the case. Many famous celebrities and models suffer from cellulite except it is well covered by makeup and special affects.

While cellulite is considered to be a skin condition, the cause is found just beneath the skin where there is a thin layer of fat. When these pockets of fat begin to bulge the skin starts to dimple. This layer of fat is difficult to remove and special treatments are required in order to do a decent job at reducing the pockets.

Cellulite is seen mostly in the hips, thighs and buttocks. However, it can be found in other areas of the body especially if there a is lot of fat in that particular area. Your predisposition to the condition is usually due to your genes. So the relationship between cellulite and excess fat is not a direct one with skinny women also suffering from it.

However, factors such as smoking, being overweight and alcohol can increase someone's chances of having cellulite. Other factors that affect the condition is the estrogen that is found in contraception pills, a slow metabolism, not drinking enough water, caffeine and spicy foods, medications, stress and a lack of exercise.

Age is another major risk factor. As a woman gets older the skin begins to lose its strength and elasticity, and the structure that keeps the fat underneath the skin in place starts to lose its ability to secure the fat.

These risk factors give you an insight in to how to reduce cellulite from those parts of your body they are affecting. Start by drinking more water, developing an exercise plan and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. Stop consuming foods with high calories or fat content, and avoid caffeine.

When exercising do a combination of cardio and weights. The cardio will burn fat while the weight will build muscle. This is the best combination of exercises to reduce cellulite in the body.

If you like you can try other treatments like creams and lotions, massage or laser therapy. There is a wealth of information available on these different cellulite treatments and with a little bit of research you will find out which treatment is best for you. - 16004
