New Year " how to create the best 2009 for yourself!

By Hayley Weatherburn

The countdown is over " 2009 is here, probably sprung on you quite quickly " or maybe it couldnt have come quicker! Now is the time everyone is thinking about New Years resolutions, or what they want to achieve. How do you create an awesome year to come? I have put together 6 points that will assist you in creating and achieving a year to remember.

1. Actually realise your achievements to date. So many people focus on writing goals, they forget to celebrate all that they have achieved. Go back and list all the things you have accomplished in 2008. Stop and give yourself a chance, write down at least 20 things you achieved. Nothing is too little " it could be a plant you kept alive all year; a friend you made; a promotion in your job; your child thanked you for your help with some homework; you bought a new car; ran that 5km route you had wanted to " make the list, be proud! Once the list is in front of you " make sure you acknowledge yourself and realise what an outstanding year you have had!

2. Well done on your accomplishments! The nest step which will support you in your future successes is to put down on paper the reasons you believe helped you in achieving those goals. Were there obstacles that you managed to overcome, and if so " how did you do it? What was the key point that pushed you over the line? All the lessons learned here will help you in your achievements this year.

3. Now that you have realised that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to, it is a good idea to set out some goals for this year. Write down things that you would like to achieve this year, including one big goal that if you achieve it, it would make 2009 the best year yet! Just list them down, it can be as many as you like. Dont worry about how you are going to achieve these goals; this will come to you later. Once you have let your creative juices flow " go through and prioritise what are important to you. Pick a top 10 to work on.

a. When writing your goals it is very important to realise what are your goals and what are other people. Dont put goals in there that are goals that your parents want you to achieve, or that your partner wants you to achieve. You are the most important person to yourself, so make sure you treat yourself with that respect. You will also find that you will achieve our own goals quicker than goals that are from other people.

4. With your top 10 goals, go through and describe each one. Write down a few sentences on each " what you would be doing when you have achieved the goal, how it would make you feel " what others would say to you. The more descriptive you can be the better. Write it in the present tense, writing it as if you were in the moment of achieving the goal.

5. Now for the KEY POINT! This will put fuel in your fire, it will create action so do not skip this step! Now that you know what it feels like to achieve the goal " I want you to write why it is important to you to achieve this goal. Write what would happen if you never achieved the goal. If you find that it wouldnt matter " then you need to replace it with a goal that does. This will help you realise the reasons to be motivated to move towards your goals. Spend time on this section.

6. Finally prioritise your top 10, giving them dates to achieve it by. Put this dated list somewhere where you can see it regularly. Come back to the goals weekly, monthly and even quarterly. Another final point to keep in mind " dont stress about the details of the how, in fact you dont need to focus on it. Focus your energy and mind on being the person who achieves the goals, and the rest will come to you through the law of attraction.

Follow these points, undertake them with passion and energy and you will make yourself a fantastic 2009! Enjoy your journey as much as, maybe even more than, actually achieving your goals. Just something to ponder throughout this year is You can turn your life into paradise but the only way you can do it is to make the inside of you a paradise. There is no other way. You are the cause, your life is the effect. Rhonda Burn. - 16004
