Buying accessories for your newfound hobby of belly dancing is fun and exciting. Before you know it you have bought more than you need. Most of the time all you need is a pair of comfortable pants or a loose, flowing skirt to dance. Most people choose a fitted bra top especially for belly dancing. You can then choose whatever accessories you like. However, many people find that belly dancing belts are a must to really complete an outfit.

Coin Belts

Belly dancing belts are now made up of many different types of materials. Traditionally belly dancing belts are made from coins. Many coins, that are made to look like ancient gold coins, are strung together to make a waist belt that will accentuate your hips and their movements.

There are different styles of the coin belly dancing belts. The most basic is the triangular belt, when laid flat the belt has a triangular shape. When worn it tends to be longer on one side of the hip. Paired with the right skirt this can be a very dramatic addition to your costume.

Another design popular among belly dancer is the circular belt. These types of belly dancing belts are very simple and simple encircle the hips. This type of belt will really emphasize the hips of the dancer and the movement and sound of the coin belt will punctuate every movement of the hips.

The third common type of belt is the scalloped belt. These belly dancing belts can have very ornate designs with varying lengths. This is the perfect way to jazz up a simple costume or skirt. It can also be just the thing you need if your routines involve a lot of shimmying.

These are just some of the basic designs. There are plenty more designs out there to suit different dancers and costumes. You can even buy belly dancing belts made from shells instead of the traditional coins.

If you would prefer something more delicate then chains instead of bells and coins can make great belts. These can come in silver or gold depending on your costume and preference.
