The Back Muscles

The back has some of the largest muscles in the body. The back muscles support your posture and protect your spine. Some of the back muscles are part of the core muscle group that are so important for strength and conditioning. Back muscle building will help develop the V shaped body with sexy shoulders and a trim waist.

The muscles in the back overlap. The muscles in the lower part of your back are used to support you when you are standing up. The muscles in the upper part of your back are used to control the arms and shoulders. Your muscles in the back are easily overlooked in the bodybuilding routine, but they are a very important part of your overall good health.

One back muscle building exercise is the dead lift. The muscles that are used in this exercise are the lats, gluts, traps and erector spinae. This amazing exercise will work seventy percent of all your muscles in the same exercise. When you are doing the dead lift, you will be lifting the barbell off the floor and pushing it up. You must have good form to do this exercise in the correct way. Make sure that your form is good before you attempt it.

Another exercise that you can do is pull ups. These are a simple exercise and only require you to pull yourself up to chin level with an overhead bar. You can increase the workout by increasing the number of repetitions.

Back muscle building can be increased with bar bell bent over rows. These are done by gripping the barbell, flex forward with your torso and pull the bar to the chest. You should also make sure that your technique and form are good. Build up the weight and reps.

The sitting cable row is done on a machine. Sitting on the bench forward with your legs extended you take the handgrips and pull them toward you and back. This exercise works your lower back and lats.

These are just a few back muscle building exercises. Technique is so important in lifting exercises so you do not injure your back. Definitely see demonstrations first before you try these exercises and get feedback on your form.

Your back truly is your lifeline. Back muscle building is part of your core strength training. A strong back will help with your total workout.
