Colon Cleanse and Detoxification: Two Steps to a Healthier Colon

By Sue Thompson

If you have never checked out products that cleanse your colon before, you would be surprised to find that there are actually many varieties of products and kits you can choose from. There are also products that not only cleanse the colon but detoxify as well. Whats the difference? you may ask. A colon cleanse takes out the accumulated wastes in your colon while a detoxifying substance specifically targets the poison that has contaminated the digestive system and replenishes it with natural substances to restore its normal functionality. These two work together in cleansing your body and in promoting better health.

What is Colon Cleanse and Detoxification All About?

Some people believe that it is necessary to clean the colon of waste and toxins that have built up on the colon wall through the years. They think that if the colon is not rid of these waste and toxins, a person might develop digestive problems and even colon cancer. Cleansing the colon to relieve digestive discomfort has been practiced for centuries. These days it is once again gaining popularity due to peoples junk food habits and the increasing number of cases of colon cancer.

These same people also believe that when colon waste becomes toxic, it enters the bloodstream and reaches the kidneys and liver, the organs which normally do the job of cleansing. Because the body is not able to handle the overload of toxins it, begins to suffer from different kinds of symptoms. Detoxification involves the elimination of waste in the colon wall and the toxins which are its by products. This explains why many colon cleanse products also offer detoxification.

What To Do During Colon Cleanse and Detoxification

During colon cleanse and detoxification, try not to eat any solid food or at least limit your intake of it to make sure that what is flushed out is old waste and toxins and not new food. To aid the process, drink plenty of water. Do not use a colon cleanse longer than you should nor too frequently. Your body might become dependent on it and this will cause your colon to weaken. In the same way that you should avoid developing a dependency on laxatives to have a bowel movement, you should not colon cleanse too often.

A colon cleanse product is not your only option. The good news is, you can flush out the waste from your colon by simply switching to a diet that is rich in fiber with very little fats and sugars. If you are conscientious about keeping your colon healthy, you would probably never have to use a product to do the work. - 16004
